Celebrities and their battle with weight enthral. Readers devour the up-again, down-again the same way that on-again, off-again romances are soaked up. This week the gossip magazines put the weight gain and loss of celebrities under the microscope. According to NW, almost every celebrity in Hollywood has some kind of weight-loss tip. Jennifer Aniston slimmed 2 kilograms on a no white diet, refusing anything with starch in it; Britney Spears dropped from 73 to 54 kilograms by eating a diet packed with salmon, chicken and turkey; and Jennifer Garner lost 12 kilograms of post-baby weight by eating smaller meals and exercising more. On-screen romance turned into off-screen romance for the Twilight stars, as both New Idea and NW published exclusive photos of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson holding hands in Paris, which is apparently all the evidence needed to out them as lovers. An airport insider told New Idea They stopped and looked at each other, their plane, the scene. They seemed very calm, in love.
Meanwhile, favourite mag fodder, Scientologist Tom Cruise, has been rocked by claims in a new book that he "yelled at books, bottles and doorknobs during training", Woman's Day says. NW believes Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes, is happier when she is without her husband, illustrated by a smiling picture of Katie and a co-star, and a glum photo when walking with Tom.
